Mahalaya

Today is Mahalaya, for last 3 years I am not enjoying the festival with my family. I feel very nostalgic this day. It remembers me my childhood. For bengalies Mahalaya means a special day. That day everybody wakes up earlier (3:00 AM or so) just to listen the gorgeous voice of Virendra Krishna Vadra in Mahishashuramardini in All India Radio, Kolkata. Nowa days nobody listens to radio (I mean AM). But before that day everybody unpack their old radio set and check wheather it is in working condition or not. The program starts at 4'O clock morning and you won't find a single family, where nobody listening it.
For last two years I am not listening it as I am in bangalore. Though I baught a CD of the programme still it doesn't have the same feeling. This time I didn't miss it. Thanks to my DTH service provider which provides some radio channels too. I woke up morning (??) at 3:30 and swithched on the radio (actually TV). I was not sure wheather this channel broadcasts the same or not. But luckily at 4 it started, and I can't tell you the feeling of mine at that time.
This time also I am not going home, but still i am happy because of the moment. Those who will be home, i want to say only one thing enjoy madi.
Yesterday I went to forum with my friend, and you won't beleive that there were 80% bengali, doing their pujo shopping.
